Summer Session Schedule

I have had some parents interested in participating in a summer program. Getting out of the house and keeping the kids active in the summer can be tricky with our summer weather. For the program in the summer, you don't have to commit to a whole month, but just the weeks. I will be taking kids of any grade P-5th since we will be focusing on crafts, themes, and activities instead of focusing on academics.

The cost is $45 per week since we will be having the school 3 days a week and includes the craft and snack. (In the previous years it was $30 per week, but only included 2 days of activities). If you are interested, please let me know so I can start gathering the craft supplies etc. I also need a deposit of $10 per week so I can hold your place and use that deposit to pay for supplies etc. Thank you!!

The days will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10am-12pm.

Here are the weeks the school will be offered this summer:

June 18, 20, 22: Outdoor Crafts: Mud Cupcakes and "Palm" Tree Art

June 25, 27, 29: Patriotic Week: Flags and Fireworks

No School Week of July 2-6

July 9, 11, 13- Summer Potions

July 30, Aug. 1, 3- Fashionistas- Sunglasses and Shirts

August 6, 8, 10- Critters- Rock Bugs and Thumby Art

Hey there! We have been talking a lot about options for preschools next year, and I was hoping we could share our information. Please comment on this post for any preschool information you may have. (Name, address or area, phone or email, and if you know what the pricing is). I know some of you may already have deposits down on a place, but I was thinking that we could still inform each other. Thanks so much!

Junior Junction (Horizon Drive and Pacific in Henderson). Larger classroom style, but with four teachers. T, Th, am or pm as well as M,W,F am or pm available. Prices goes to MWF $200/month.

Pinecrest Academy of NV (Boulder Hwy and Horizon Drive) They will have 5 days a week 1/2 day classes. PreK (4 year olds going to Kinder next year). I am not sure on the price, but it is supposed to be comparable with the prices in the area. I will keep you posted when I find out any additional information.

Michole Church- (takes only preK/4 year olds going into Kindergarten). She has a small group and teaches from her home. She lives in this area. I will get her number to you if you are interested.

Jen Ramsey and my sister in law knows of home preschools in the Black Mtn area.

Foothills Montessori- runs about $1000 per month (I think that is only for 1/2 day?) I will double check on that.

Jessie- Did you say you knew of a home preschool on Warm Springs and Valle Verde?

Update

I hope everyone is enjoying their Spring Break so far:) Since I have an opportunity to attend a class on the morning of the 12th, I was investigating when would be most beneficial and convenient to move that mornings' preschool make up day to. I was thinking that this week would be a good time, but we have enough students who will be gone on vacation to make it inconvenient. So, I am adding a day onto the last session in June instead to make up for the 12th. I am in the process of updating next session's lessons, and I will be posting the next two sessions' plans this week.

Also, a great opportunity has opened up for me for next year. I was looking into a local tuition-free charter school opening up in our area for my two oldest children to attend. After attending the parent information meeting in February, I began to think I might like to teach for that school. After much research, pondering, and a lengthy interview process, they have offered me a job teaching for them in the fall. This is a great opportunity, to be able to work in this environment, open a new school, and love the differentiated instruction method to be used for instruction. The only pang I have is that I wouldn't be able to teach the preschool anymore. Ideally I would have taught at least one more year, but I couldn't pass up on this opportunity. I hope you all forgive me for abandoning you:( I plan on having some weeks in the summer to have summer school, and I will let you know what those days are soon.

So, to recap: We are not having school on April 12th_ our make up days for this year will be on June 5th and 7th, I will not be having the preschool in the fall, but I WILL be having some summer school weeks this summer (dates yet to be determined). I will also be updating the blog for the next two sessions this week. The next session starts on April 10th. Thank you so much for being the best preschool parents!!!!!
